ONE OF MY TIPS FOR ATTAINING FOOD AND FITNESS BALANCE INSTEAD OF OBSESSION.
‼️NEWSFLASH. You cannot go full steam ahead everyday. You also will never eat perfectly everyday.
How many of you feel like a failure if you’re workout isn’t “up to par?”
How many of you struggle to do a lower intensity workout?
To get the extra hour of sleep instead of a 4:30am workout?
To take a rest day?
To know a leisurely walk is ok as your only form of exercise for a day?
To not throw in the towel after a “bad” meal?
To not berate yourself for an indulgence?
To not obsess over how to over correct and get back on track?
You don’t have to fear losing your progress if you don’t go all out everyday and if you don’t eat “perfectly” everyday. What does that even mean anyway?
In the big picture, that mindset is only going to hurt you, not help you. Your body can only improve with rest and active recovery. And your mind needs your favorite foods sometimes!
One of my tips to those of you who struggle with this, LIKE I DID, is to remember that both exercise and food have a cumulative effect. That means, think of the big picture. Instead of thinking day by day, meal by meal, or even morning by evening for those of you who like double workouts, think WEEKLY to start.
Ask yourself if you look back at your WEEK, did you move? Did you do any resistance training? Did you bust a sweat? Did you rest and recover? Did you adequately sleep?? Did you give your body good nutrients? Did you allow yourself to be satisfied?
If you can say yes for the week, be proud and be ok with that because that is HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE. That is balance. Maybe Friday night wasn’t perfect, but overall this week, did you eat a variety of real and healthy food while not overdoing junk daily? Then you’re good! And not only is that sustainable, it’s normal!
This is one major way to not sweat the small stuff, keep obsession at an arm’s length away, and embrace balance and moderation instead. Food and fitness are not black or white. Living in the gray is AMAZING PROGRESS and it will still get you results… plus, you’ll be way happier on your way.
